Mounted late medieval warrior

I have been an active jouster since 2016, participating in 40 + tournaments throughout the UK and in Europe. These have been both with a traditional tilt rail (the centralised barrier that separates opponents) and without - also known as “open field” or “at large”. In addition, this has often included the mounted melee, a fast-paced and exciting mounted combat.

Modern rider

I have been riding as an adult since 1997, and have trained with various instructors, although the real acceleration in my education came when I spent 6 years training with a leading Portuguese grand-prix dressage rider, both on my horses and his in Portugal and the UK. I’ve also schooled extensively in Working Equitation, and competed Nationally.

HEMA practitioner

I’ve been training intensively in Historical European Martial Arts for 5 years, although have had knowledge and involvement in the practices and concepts for much longer. My focus is on 15th Century Germanic methodology, particularly the longsword, and mounted fencing (Rossfechten). This also includes the use of the lance and unarmed techniques as well.
